What's Next?

He was once a highly respected professional football player that was sentenced to spend time in the big house. Some were surprised they allowed Michael Vick back in the nfl after spending 18 months behind bars for his role in operating a dogfighting ring. His next project.... his own reality show. Maybe the show will be about how to be friends with "the sisters" in prison. Could be funny. Maybe it'll be about how he has become an animal activist and loves dogs and all of God's creatures. Doubtful. This show is about nothing but him and how he can improve his image. It will show his side of the story of going ro jail and what he went through with his financial issues. He just seems so damn self-centered. Unless he guarantees to donate all of his earnings from the show to PETA, I can't condone this kind of promoting by network tv.

The sad thing is people will allow their kids to watch this show and that's mainly because they have a hard time keeping track of what their children are watching. Which means that puts Vick back on the good gracious of the younger generation because they believe whatever they see (The Hills for example). Of course the editing of this reality show will make him out to look like such a nice guy who has begun a new chapter in his life. This coming from the same guy that once flipped of his own teams'  fans. The same guy that allowed dogs to be brutally beaten in his back year. The same guy who denied all allegations until he was suggested to take the plea deal. He's used up his 2nd chance in my mind and I can't believe they are allowing him back into spotlight like this. What's next; Roman Polanski gets his own show on the Disney channel?

The Showdown

If someone wakes up today from a 5 year coma and asks to see the sports page, they would find themselves quite shocked. Yes Brett Favre; the man, the myth, the legend is still playing football. But why is his  No. 4 jersey in purple and not green. Well this Monday night is the big showdown of Favre's new team, the Minnesota Vikings, verses his old team, the Green Bay Packers. Not only did Brett play with the Packers from 1992 to 2007 but he broke countless records and even won them a Super Bowl.

The name Favre has always been affiliated with the Packers team but now most of the fans have turned against him. They didn't mind seeing him play in another green jersey (NY Jets) for that one year because it was in a different confrence and not a divisional rival. His latest debacle of whether or not to play again lead him into the hearts of Vikings fans and outraged the die hard cheese heads. Just remember Green Bay that you brought this upon yourself. You gave Favre the ultimatum back in '07 to either make the decision to play next year or take a walk. Unfortunately for you, Brett isn't one of those players who can say goodbye to the sport they live for. You pushed the man away to replace him with "the future of the organization". Then why can you get mad about Favre prolonging his dreams with a franchise that wants his experience behind center.

It doesn't matter who wins this game because it proves nothing. The Packers want their former cheese head idol to suffer for following a different path than they wanted him to. The Vikings just want to do nothing but keep on their winning streak all the way to the playoffs, even if that means with the arm of an almost 40 year old man. In a decade, everyone will only remember Brett Favre as the great Green Bay Packers quarterback. Cheese heads can hold their short-term grudge but deep down they know they really love No. 4, no matter what color his jersey is. All wounds take time to heal.
